So much sun, so little time. Sanya, Day 1

Hanging on the beach, enjoying the days just float on by....

This aint no puget sound, folks...

Its like warm bath water--with a lot of salt. A lot of salt. Too much salt, it burns my eyes... It BURNS IT BURNS...
oh wait, but its still warm and its still the ocean...

Naked fishing kids, swimming off their boat in the Sanya harbour... They might be poor, but they are certainly happy.

We may also be poor, but we are also happy. :)

Remember to remember me, standing still in your path, like a hummingbird.... Wilco.
This is me enjoying a little water and lemon and lime at the afternoon market... YES!
Chicks dig it when the Hoggdizzle tries to bargain with them in Chinese... Too bad she tried to rip me off, but the photo made it worth the 1rmb she pvercharged me... Posted by Picasa Read more!

That is indeed sweat covering my body... Buckets of water coming from my body-- refreshing, yet alarming. Hot day, drink lots of water and coconut juice...mmmmmm-- I love Hainan!

Seeking refuge from the heat...

The entry way to the great Buddha...

Enjoying some fresh coconuts.... Posted by Picasa Read more!

The biggest Buddha in the world... Of course its in China--of course its slightly bigger than the statue of liberty... because that is what the Chinese have to do. It was an impressive sight, but I still think the Statue of Lib is better because of what it truly represents... Freedom.

The night market vendors in Sanya-- Fresh seafood every day--some delicious, some not...
A truly amazing way to eat, but we didnt do it very often because of the dodgy factor.

Here are the fresh items that the average street vendor has to offer--some of it delicious, some not so much. Regardless, it was fun to sample all of the local smattering of food you dont see on the mainland.

Well, it almost fits.

The long distance sleeper bus... Not something I would ever recommend for those of you out there looking to do some travelling in the Orient. The bus we were on didnt seem to have any shocks so it rocked up and down like a caddy with hydralics in the hood for most of the trip, which makes it sound a lot cooler than it was.

But, it was all worth it for moments like this one. The surf of Sanya on our last day was nothing short of amazing. The weather was just great, sunny and hot everyday and my skin has a nice tone of tan to it now. Waking up every morning and eating fresh mango and pineapple and making it down to the sea for a relaxing swim really puts life into perspective.

Self-portrait no. 18. Sanya, Hainan. Need I say more?

Travelling back to Chenzhou after such a wonderful week of sun and tropical living. It was a long, harrowing journey from Sanya, at the southern end of Hainan to Chenzhou--in all 24 hours on the bus, but it was totally worth every minute.

One of the main things that makes such a trip so harrowing--huge trucks and buses just randomly passing each other at 120km an hour.

Sunset in Haikou on the 2 hour ferry ride back from the island to the mainland. Lili was a little sick throughout this leg as there were thousands of filthy Chinese people on the ferry, spitting, smoking and pissing everywhere. Sorry folks, no pictures...

Another beautiful sunset shot. Posted by Picasa Read more!

Guangzhou Living...

Delicious Thai food in Guangzhou was a very welcomed change for both of us. Fresh seafood and delightful curries and the beginning of a week straight of Mango juice, Mango ice cream and fresh mango off the tree. Lovely. Posted by Picasa Read more!
